Thousands of residents from both sides of the border from Mexico and the US congregated to be in the presence of his holiness. People witnessed a historic visit in Juarez without precedence, marking the first ever visit to border city.
The report from Municipal Secretary of Public Safety, Cesar Omar Munoz, commented that almost half a million people attended this event and all acted with respect, no incident reports filed.
Rafael Gonzalez Corral, the Transit Municipal Commanding Officer of was pleasantly surprised. He was in charge of overlooking over 800 transit agents working this historic event. He commented that the masses of people present conducted themselves properly throughout the event.
